Kia ora te whanau o Turanganui 2016,
It is hard to believe that we are in our final week of the year. Whilst we are all looking forward to spending Christmas and the summer holidays with our whanau, we are all sad to say goodbye to our wonderful group of Turanganui Taonga.
2016 has been full of new challenges and celebrations and one of proudest achievements as a team is the whanau feeling that has been created. Our academic data has improved significantly and we have a number of students who have received leadership badges. Congratulations to Paddy Blackman who is one of only a handful of Gisint students to receive their honours badge at assembly on Friday. Honours badges are only given to those students who have earned sports, cultural and academic badges and are our highest honour in terms of our badge system. Kei runga noa atu koe Paddy! We have a number of year 7's who are already mapping out their year 8 plan to ensure they qualify for their honors. We are very proud of all of the students below and look forward to significantly growing the number of Turanganui students acknowledged in 2017.

2017 is going to be exciting with the addition of Matua Rapiata Ria to Turanganui and we have a fantastic bunch of year 7's who will be the perfect leaders for our incoming year 6's. We wish all of our awesome year 8's all the very best at their chosen high schools and look forward to hearing of their many successes in the future.
Tomorrow a whanau survey will come home from our Board of Trustees as they would love to have your feedback. These surveys can be returned to the office once complete.
Finally, the Turanganui kaiako want to thank all of our whanau and friends for the incredible support received this year. We are excited about what lies ahead and about providing the very best learning experiences for your children. We will carry many special memories made with this years Turanganui Taonga.

End of Year Prize Givings
On Monday night our school sports awards are being held and your child would've received an invitation if they are receiving an award or certificate. Students need to be dressed in their whites for this event.
School Prizegiving - YMCA - 10am to 12pm this Thursday
Our final prizegiving for the year takes place this Thursday and your childs teacher will let you know if your child is being acknowledged. Please ensure your child is at school in immaculate uniform if they are receiving an award as the staff have had to make very hard decisions around who to acknowledge. Only eight students per class are able to be selected for the class awards so your child should be extremely proud if they receive one. All students will be dismissed from school after the prizegiving.

Turanganui dismissed one last time for 2016 back at school after the prizegiving in the year 7 grass area.
